A good set of forged pistons, a set of aftermarket H-beam rods, and a shot peened and relieved stock crank will get you to around 7,200 RPM reliably, at least until the horspower reaches the 500 mark, then the block will most likely split ( don't ask me how I know). It won't idle worth a crap below about 1,200RPM which is a problem with an auto in a light car.

A flat tappet or solid roller cam with a long duration (250 -270 advertised duration) and around. The small block ford will wind up to some pretty high RPM's if you spend your money on the valve train.
